Cosplay Spotlight: Astharoshe Asran

Character: Astharoshe Asran

From: Trinity Blood

About the character:

Astharoshe “Astha” Asran, Viscountess of Odessa and Duchess of Kiev, is an undercover agent for the New Human Empire. She is a direct, no-nonsense individual who has a very low opinion of Terrans, referring to them as barbaric and stupid, among other things. Her opinion of humans, however, seems to have primarily been formed through Empire propaganda combined with having little exposure to or understanding of humans. Asthe takes being called a “vampire” as an insulting slur, and only refers to herself as a Methuselah. Astha fights with a weapon called the Spear of Gae Bolg. The most powerful close-combat weapon found amongst the Lost Technology relics, the spear uses ionized xenon gas to create a high-density, high-temperature plasma blade capable of cutting through anything.

Cosplay Spotlight: Urd - August 27th, 2010

Cosplay Spotlight: Urd

Character: Urd

From: Oh My Goddess!

About the character:

Urd is Belldandy’s older half sister and is the second Goddess to appear to Keiichi. Urd ranks as Goddess second class, management category limited license, similar to her youngest sister Skuld. She is the Yggdrasil System Administrator and Manager. Although her powers exceed those of her sisters, she was supposedly relegated to second class ranking due to her tendency to lie, said Belldandy early in the manga. Belldandy also said that first class licensing means both power and control. Urd, she said, has lots of power but is lacking in control. Later, the real reason that Urd dropped the first class license examination was revealed to be because she was asked why she wanted to be a first class goddess. She did not answer and the licensing goddess said “I think it better if you don’t,” meaning don’t become a first class goddess. At her second licensing she passed all the tests and the licensing goddess said “Maybe yes. Maybe no. I trust in you, girl. License approved!” Urd then refused the license. She told Peorth that a first-class goddess must protect all beings, while she wishes to be able to choose whom she protects (accompanied by a picture of Belldandy and Skuld). Also she thinks there is a role for a goddess who is able to lie, something forbidden to first class goddesses.
