Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
Amaya: I draw a lot and I love to spend quality times with my friends like going to the pool, the movies or just spending time together outside.
Q: How old are you?
Amaya: I’m 22 years old.
Q: What attracts you to cosplay?
Amaya: I went to my first anime convention five years ago and I saw many people dressed up as characters from various anime. I thought it was so cool so the following year I did my own, and I’ve been addicted ever since ^^ I love the creative side of cosplay, you try different ways to get the effect you want and learn many things on how to create the clothes and weapons. It’s a puzzle I just love to solve ^^
Q: What do you do outside of cosplay?
Amaya: I draw and write stories. My real job is working at Diffulivre (a publisher) I prepare orders of books that different stores order.
Q: When did you start cosplaying and how long?
Amaya: I’ve been cosplaying for about 4 years now and I plan to keep it up for as long as I can ^^
Q: Have you entered a cosplay competition before? Have you won prizes before?
Amaya: I have. With Alvide from One Piece, I won best show, Fai D. Flowright from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, I won third place for best show/costume. Hikaru Shido from Magic Knight Rayearth, was third place in the Eurocosplay Switzerland Selections. Syaoran from Cardcaptor Sakura, won first place in the Clamp Cosplay Competition in 2009 at Japan Expo.
Q: Was this your first con if not how many conventions have you attended before?
Amaya: I’ve attended quite a few. Here in Switzerland we have Polymanga and Japan Impact and I went to Japan Expo and Paris Manga in France
Q: How did you find your teammates?
Amaya: My boyfriend is the best ^^ <3 He’s loving caring, puts a lot of thought and care in his cosplay and is really talented with building props and weapons ^^
Q: Was the cosplay chosen by a team leader or was the cosplay chosen in group?
Amaya: We chose the cosplay in group.
Q: What made you want to attempt this costume?
Amaya: I’ve always loves Dynasty Warriors and my boyfriend being a total video game addict, it was easy for us to agree on doing a cosplay from this game. There wasn’t really girls I like though, then after looking on the web I found the genderbender versions and really fell in love with Sun Jian’s version, and since my boyfriend loved Sun Jian to begin with, the decision was made ^^
Q: Did you frequently discuss how to make the costume or did everyone make the cosumes alone?
Amaya: My boyfriend made the accessories while I did all the sewing, teamwork ^^
Q: How much time and money did the costume cost to make?
Amaya: It took about 4-5 months to make the cosplays, as for how much it cost all together I’m not sure, I guess around 300-400 chf
Q: Did you have help, or did you construct it all by yourself?
Amaya: Our parents are helpful and support us in this passion. I take advice from my father for woodwork, and from my mother with sewing.
Q: What was your first thought when they announced you had won the selections?
Amaya: O.O…. US ?! HOLY SHI****
Q: What advice would you give to cosplayers who want to make this cosplay?
Amaya: always take your time to make the cosplay look like the way you want it to and remember that it never has to be perfect, as long as you are happy and proud of your cosplay, that’s all that matters
Q: What advice would you give to cosplayers about presenting yourself on stage in a contest?
Amaya: It’s totally normal to be a bit stressed but live the moment and be your character to the fullest and people will love it as much as you ^^
Q: have you in the past entered other big compo’s like WCS?
Amaya: No, here in Switzerland we don’t have much I’m afraid
Q: Do you have an account with the website Cosplay.com/other social networking sites?
