The most famous convetion in Spain are “Salón del Manga de L´Hospitalet” in Catalonia, near Barcelona and “Expomanga de Madrid”, which is somehow still new but since it´s hold in the capital lost of people gather there.
Salón del Manga is held during 4 days, always in Halloween and weekend so that people can take about 3-4 days to travel, stay there, etc. And Expomanga changes the day all years but it´s usually in May unless there are other conventions taking place at the same…
In Spain, a Salón is pretty much a Expo when you use that word in this context… you can say Salón del Coche (Event of Cars) or Salón del Turismo (Event of Turism) and it´s just a convention where you can buy, just look, get information in the stands, there are trials of products you can, well, try xD pretty much like in most conventions.
Salón del Comic de Barcelona is also important, though it´s not only about manga and anime but also about other kind of comics and novels etc ^^
